About LU

Lingnan University is the liberal arts university in Hong Kong and we have the longest established tradition among the local institutions of higher education. Our history can be dated back to 1888, when our forerunner, the Christian College in China, was founded in Guangzhou, and to 1967, when the institution, as Lingnan College, was re-established in Hong Kong. In 2015, Lingnan University was named as one of the “Top 10 Liberal Arts College in Asia” by Forbes. We were also ranked 3rd worldwide for Quality Education (Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2021), 1st in International Faculty, Inbound and Outbound Exchange Students (QS Asia University Rankings 2021) and among the top 100 Asian universities (QS Asia University Rankings 2018).

Our Quality Liberal Arts Education

We offer undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research postgraduate programmes in the areas of Arts, Business and Social Sciences, and our broad curriculum covers an array of general education and interdisciplinary courses to provide students with a firm knowledge foundation across different subjects. We groom students to think critically and creatively, judge independently, care genuinely, and act appropriately and responsibly, and we prepare them to pursue their goals in a rapidly changing environment.

Our Characteristics

True to our identity as a liberal arts university, we are characterised by our broad-based curriculum, a fully residential campus, close faculty-student relationship and an emphasis on exchange and extra-curricular learning experiences.

To gain experience in real work settings and broaden exposure in culturally diverse environments, Lingnan students can participate in various international internship programmes including ASEAN Internship Scheme, Global Internships, Disney Cultural Exchange Program, Mainland Summer Internship Programme and many others. Over 80% of our undergraduates can spend a term studying abroad in one of our 260+ partner institutions in about 49 countries, or participate in short-term summer/ winter programmes. We also uphold our motto “Education for Service” by providing students with service-learning and community service opportunities for engaging with society and helping those in need.

嶺南大學（嶺大）是香港的博雅大學，在本地高等院校中歷史最悠久。嶺大的歷史可追溯至1888年其前身「格致書院」在廣州創校開始，其后于1967年以嶺南書院之名在香港復校。2015年，嶺大被《福布斯》評為「亞洲十大頂尖博雅學院」之一。我們于2021年泰晤士高等教育大學影響力排名中「優質教育」位列全球第三，2021年QS亞洲大學排名中「國際師資比例」、「外來交換生人數」及「出訪交換生人數」均位列第一，並在2018 QS 亞洲大學排名中亦獲評為亞洲首100名學府。

嶺大學生可透過參加國際實習計劃，在實際環境工作以及接觸不同的文化，獲取寶貴經驗。這些計劃包括「東盟實習計劃」、「環球實習計劃」及「美國迪斯尼世界暑期交流及工作計劃」及「大中華暑期實習計劃」等。此外，超過八成嶺大學生有機會前赴大學遍布49個國家的260多所海外伙伴院校，當一個學期的交換生或參加暑期/冬季課程。嶺大亦秉承校訓「作育英才，服務社會」，為學生提供服務研習及其他服務社會的機會，讓他們與小區保持連系，并幫助有需要的人。
